Amapa - Amapa is a South American hardwood. It grows in
the northern regions of Brazil. It has a straight and tight grain pattern which
looks similar to maple. The wood machines and finishes well. Amapa has many
uses including fine furniture, carpentry, and moldings.
Ash - White ash is a high quality U.S. hardwood. The
wood has a very light creamy color and is heavy and dense, with a prominent
grain resembling oak. Its many uses include furniture, baseball bats, oars, and
tool handles. Its color is consistent and it finishes and machines well.
Brazilian Walnut - This wood is called
Brazilian walnut because it resembles American Walnut in many ways, including
color and finishing texture. Its real name is imbuia. It grows in the southern
regions of Brazil in higher altitudes. It is a dense, yet stable hardwood which
machines well and finishes smoothly. It is used for fine furniture and
cabinets, paneling, floors, gun stocks, and decorative veneers.
Centennial® Cushion Rubber - Centennial cushion rubber is
made of the same formula as Superspeed but has a smaller, triangular shaped
profile.
Cross-bolts - This is a base frame to legs
attachment system which is patented and used exclusively by Brunswick. It
provides for steel cross bolts to interlock with each other
resulting in a rock solid joint.
Curubixa - Curubixa is an exotic South American
hardwood. It is a member of the mahogany family. It is not a rain forest wood
as it is abundant in a number of countries. It looks a lot like mahogany but is
harder. It sands and finishes well and is used in many fine furniture
products.
Dove-tails - Superior method of joining the
slate cross supports to the base frame side sills. This method has been used in
high quality furniture construction for centuries.
High Performance Nut Plates
- High Performance nut plates are used for attaching the rails to the slate.
They are threaded metal plates which are positioned inside the body of the
rail. High Performance nut plates can handle 70% more torque than standard
t-nuts, which are used on most competitive tables.
High Pressure Laminate (HPL) - High pressure laminate
is constructed of special phenolic resins and papers to form a hard, scratch,
stain, and dent resistant surface laminate. An HPL is used where a surface must
withstand rough commercial type use yet retain its original appearance.
Mahogany - Mahogany is a valuable hardwood found
in many places throughout the world. It has very good machining characteristics
and finishes very well. It is used in fine furniture, clocks, high quality
doors, fireplace mantels, and many other high quality products. Brunswick uses
all plantation mahogany, which means the trees were planted for harvest and
will be replaced for future harvests.
Maple - Maple is grown throughout southern Canada,
and northern and northeast United States. It is known for its hardness,
density, and weight. Its grain pattern is usually straight but it may
occasionally be curly or wavy. Its uses include furniture, pool cues, dance
floors, and table tops.
Medium density fiberboard (MDF) - Medium density
fiberboard is made of wood fibers combined with a synthetic resin, or bonding
agent, and bonded together under heat and pressure. MDF is flat, smooth,
uniform, and dense, and used in kitchen cabinets, furniture, and moldings. It
is an excellent substitute for solid wood in may interior applications.
Mother-of-Pearl (MOP) - Mother-of-pearl diamond shaped
rail sights are made of genuine cultivated pearl material.
Oak - Oak is the most popular of all hardwoods. It is
well known for its beautiful grain patterns and extreme durability. Its many
uses include furniture, hardwood flooring, and kitchen cabinets. It has very
good sanding and finishing qualities. Oak is grown in northern portions of the
Great Lakes states, northeastern U.S., and southern Canada.
Particleboard - Particleboard is a wood
panel product made of wood particles bonded together with a synthetic resin
under heat and pressure. It is recognized as an excellent substrate for
laminated panel constructions. It is usually laminated with wood veneers, high
pressure laminates, or vinyl films.
Pearlized - Pearlized diamond shaped rail sights
are made of a high engineering composite resin which is wear and fade
resistant.
Plywood - Plywood consists of multiple layers of
thin wood which are bonded together with a resin under heat and pressure. It
has been used for many years throughout the furniture and home construction
industries. It is a very strong, durable, and versatile material.
Polyester - Polyester is a very durable and
expensive finish application which is commonly used on high quality pianos. It
has a high gloss and extremely smooth finish. It is easily repaired if
scratched.
Poplar - Poplar (also known as tulipwood) is grown
throughout the U.S. and southern Canada. It is a very abundant hardwood and is
used widely throughout the furniture and woodworking industries. Among its uses
are furniture, moldings, and musical instruments. It has a straight grain with
a fine even texture.
Superspeed® Cushion
Rubber - Superspeed cushion rubber is patented and is produced
exclusively for Brunswick. It has a larger profile than the rubber used by
other companies. A canvas control fabric is embedded into the top to control
the accuracy of the rebound. Because of this, Superspeed is 40% more consistent
than a leading competitors rubber. It also has a canvas cloth on the back
surface to assure good adhesion to the wood rail.
Vinyl - Vinyl laminates are used throughout the
furniture industry to achieve an attractive look at an economical cost. Because
they are not as durable as HPLs, they are usually used on parts which are
not exposed to a lot of wear and tear.
